November 2020

Posted by peytonvsmith on November 11, 2020

Hi everyone, just some quick thoughts to answer some common Q&A we are getting;

We are at capacity for RVs for Thanksgiving and very busy for tenting. If you haven’t already called, it’s likely too late.

We are under a burn ban, no wood fire and we are not selling fire wood.

The shower house is still closed.

We are eight miles from the main entrance of BBNP.

We have no cell phone service but basic wifi available at the store. (Not for streaming, downloading, etc.)

We are in the middle of some changes for our website and software, please bear with us.

Posted by peytonvsmith on March 20, 2020

Per order of Brewster County Officials, Stillwell’s RV Park and Campground will not be accepting any overnight guests until at least the end of the month. This includes but is not limited to RVs, tent camping and those with prior reservations. Please DO NOT just show up, you will be turned away. We will post here when we have a set date to accept guests again.

Sorry for the inconvenience and stay well!

Spring Break is here!

Posted by peytonvsmith on March 8, 2020

Hi everyone,

Spring Break has begun here at the 4L! It’s a rainy morning but we are hoping for sunshine later. We still have sites available for tent camping and RVs. Come on out!

Hey everyone!

We get a lot of questions about technology out here. There is NO cell service here at the 4L. We do have WiFi available assuming that the wind isn’t blowing and nobody sneezes. Please do not come out with the assumption that the internet will be working well or at all. We do our best to provide decent internet but we are in the middle of nowhere.

Big changes! Read this!

Posted by peytonvsmith on August 13, 2019

Hi everyone,

We’ve had quite a few changes here at the 4L and wanted to fill y’all in.

The ranch portion of the Stillwell property has sold. This means that the majority of what was the primitive area and rock hunting area is now inaccessible. We DO still have tent camping spaces they are just not where they were previously. We do NOT have any rock hunting any longer. We realize how disappointing this is to so many of you and are sorry for that. The store, RV park and museum are still operating as normal. The store, museum and RV park are still under the same ownership and management, any reservations you’ve made previously for future dates are still good.

Give us a call or send us an email with any questions. (432) 376-2244

Seasonal help wanted

Posted by peytonvsmith on June 7, 2019

Hi everyone,

We’ve received the unfortunate news that one of our seasonal volunteers will not be able to return this year. Therefore, we’re looking for some help for the upcoming season. Our volunteers typically bring their own RV down and work for their site rent. Work duties include (but aren’t limited to) working in the store, cleaning, hauling trash, etc. We work as a team here at Stillwell’s and shift around as needed. We hope to have someone start October 1st and an end date of April 1st. We are flexible on these dates but any volunteers must be available in the month of March. We hope to find someone familiar with the area, or who has at least visited before, so that you know what your getting into.

If living just outside of Big Bend for a few months and working for your site rent sounds like something you want to do, send us an email and tell us about yourself!
